DACHSER wins German Packaging Award in the Logistics & Material Flow category
DACHSER has been awarded the German Packaging Award 2025 by the German Packaging Institute (Deutsches Verpackungsinstitut e. V.) in the Logistics & Material Flow category for its "Retail Box". The logistics service provider developed the innovative reusable system for groupage logistics, which is suitable for shop deliveries in the fashion, cosmetics, and electronics industries, for example, together with its partners Wanzl, Logistikbude, and Deutsche Telekom.
DACHSER names new management for European Logistics Germany and European Logistics North Central Europe
DACHSER has named Claus Wetzel (44) as the new head of its European Logistics Germany business unit, effective January 1, 2026. He succeeds Andreas Fritsch (63), who has overseen DACHSER’s transport and storage business for industrial and consumer goods in Germany since January 1, 2023.
The European Logistics North Central Europe business unit will be headed by Florian Zehetleitner (46) as of January 1, 2026. He succeeds Wolfgang Reinel (62), who has been responsible for the business unit since 2014.
First industry-ready eCMR software:legally compliant, interoperable, and freely available for all
There have been various international attempts to digitalise the CMR consignment note. However, the resulting solutions are rarely compatible. The Open Logistics Foundation now presents an industry-ready software that creates a common standard for the digital consignment note (eCMR). The new software is legally compliant, interoperable, and suitable for companies of all sizes and industries – freely available on an open source basis. Open Logistics Foundation members Rhenus, Dachser, Blue Yonder, and Markant presented the solution for the first time on June 2nd during a press conference at transport logistic 2025 in Munich, Germany.

It should go without saying that the global community must take consistent action to protect the climate in order to safeguard the livelihoods of future generations. But a look at the news in recent months suggests that the issue of sustainability is no longer top of mind. For example, the United States is withdrawing from the Paris Agreement on climate change and focusing on fossil fuels. And the European Union is revisiting painstakingly crafted agreements on sustainability reporting obligations and discussing whether climate targets that have already been put in place might be too ambitious after all.
DACHSER grows through acquisitions
Global logistics provider DACHSER grew significantly in 2024, with sales growth of 13 percent lifting revenue above the 8 billion mark to EUR 8.027 billion. The family-owned company also recorded significant year-over-year increases in other key figures such as headcount (+3,300), locations (+56), and pallet spaces in its warehouses (+720,000).
DACHSER drives from Ireland to the European continent
DACHSER is utilizing its customs expertise and its leading European groupage network to introduce the new 'Smart Landbridge Connect' service. As before Brexit, the logistics provider is now once again driving from Ireland across the British landbridge to continental Europe. Compared to ferry connections, this route offers more flexibility, shorter transit times and more frequent departures. This makes DACHSER the first major logistics provider to revive this Pre-Brexit service.

DACHSER launches ‘Smart Landbridge Connect’ to speed Irish exports to Europe
By utilising the UK landbridge, enhanced flexibility, faster transit times, and more frequent departures are ensured compared to the ferry route option for Irish export traffic destined for the European market. This makes DACHSER Ireland the first major logistics provider to revert to the Pre-Brexit European service.
Making dynamic adjustments to logistics networks
In October 2024, two authors —Christian Kille, Professor of Retail Logistics and Operations Management at the Technical University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt (THWS), and Andreas Backhaus, a freelance lecturer—published a study entitled “Chemical logistics on the move” (in German), which was supported by DACHSER Chem Logistics. Their study analyzed the current and future challenges and opportunities for chemical logistics in Germany and concluded with six recommendations for action. Now follows the double interview with author Christian Kille and Michael Kriegel, Department Head DACHSER Chem Logistics, to intensify the recommendations and to learn about the opportunities that arise from their practical implementation.
DACHSER and Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft expand research partnership
Global logistics provider DACHSER has expanded its research partnership with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft effective February 1, 2025. As part of the DACHSER Enterprise Lab, which has been bringing science and logistics practice together in mixed innovation teams since 2017, the family-owned company is now cooperating with both the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML in Dortmund and the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS in Sankt Augustin, near Bonn.
Twelve new electric trucks for long-haul routes in the DACHSER network
The e-truck fleet in the DACHSER network is growing: twelve Mercedes-Benz eActros 600s were delivered to the German-Austrian subsidiary Brummer Logistik in mid-December. The vehicles, which have a range of around 500 kilometers, will be used for regional and long-distance food transport.
